Expert guides and tips
Buildings cover, glass cover or landlord: who pays for the broken pane — and why you choose your own glazier.
From clearing shards to insurance photos: six steps to get safely from open hole to new pane.
From a small transom light to a large HR++ pane: all price guides in one place, plus the 6 factors that determine what your glass job will cost.
On average € 150 to € 1,000 per pane, depending on size and glass type: single glazing sits at the bottom of the band, large double or HR glass at the top. Single glazing to HR++ costs € 100-300 per m², custom-cut glass € 75-350 per pane. Outside office hours an emergency surcharge applies.
Safety first: pick up large shards with gloves and sturdy shoes, keep children and pets away and close the opening temporarily with cardboard, a panel or tape. Take photos before cleaning up — you will need them for your insurer — then submit a request right away.
With an open pane, affiliated glaziers give your request priority and often place an emergency board-up the same day. Single glazing can usually be replaced right away; double glazing and shopfront glass are made to measure and follow after a few working days. After a heavy storm, waiting times can rise across the region.
Often, yes. For an owned home, buildings insurance (or separate glass cover) usually covers breakage; in a rented home, glass repair often runs via the landlord or a glass fund. You always choose your own glazier and can usually submit the invoice to your insurer yourself — we are not an insurers' claims network. Policies differ: check your own terms and mind the excess.
Yes. Submitting a request costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Up to 3 glaziers respond and you decide who to talk to — or no one, which is fine too. Prices and payment are arranged directly with the company.

Condensation between the two glass sheets means the insulated unit has failed: the cavity is no longer airtight and the insulation value drops. Cleaning does not help — the unit needs replacing. The frame can usually stay in place.
Double glazing is two glass sheets with a cavity in between; HR++ glass adds a heat-reflecting coating and a gas-filled cavity, making it insulate distinctly better. If you are replacing a pane anyway, HR++ is almost always the logical choice — the price difference with plain double glazing is small compared to the job as a whole.
Often, yes: HR++ glass is thicker than single glazing, so the rebate must be deep enough and the frame sound. The glazier assesses that when measuring up. If the frame itself is rotten or too tight, frame replacement is needed — that is carpentry and falls outside our glass services.
Yes. For shopfronts, hospitality and offices there are emergency repairs and glass service contracts with fixed response-time agreements, at € 60-95 per hour excluding the glass. Large fronts are always quoted individually. Choose 'Shopfront and commercial glazing' in the request.
